Why do we take time to search for unique gifts? There are so few moments to turn our feelings of love, sensitivity, and/or sympathy into physical keepsake gifts. Those gifts become an opportunity to convey the love and care we feel for our family and friends. Research has shown that sentimental gifts actually strengthen relationships.
A very thoughtful friend asked if I could make a keepsake bear for a loved one who passed. So what began as a challenge for me, turned into a labor of love and a final piece that I personally loved - for a few reasons. I love the thought behind the gift and gift giver. I love the fabric that was chosen from the loved one, as it was soft and had dreamy embroidered images. I love that there is an opportunity for the memory of a loved one being physically represented and extremely huggable.
While the pictured keepsake bear is intended as a memorial and gift for a child, keepsake bears can be given for other occasions. One of a kind (OOAK) remembrance gifts can be for yourself, too.
Birth of a child or grandchild: Use special clothing from a loved one, or your child's birth for a baby shower gift.
Special Occasions: Preserve special days by using the clothing of that day. Think wedding garments, formalwear, etc. being made into a bear.
